I thought for my first blog, I would give you a little background about myself…so here it goes:
I am a 50-year old (who feels like 30) wife and mother of two beautiful children, Haley and Jake. Both of them are very interested in health and fitness, and are very smart when it comes to making healthy lifestyle choices (I hope that was learned from me :-) My husband, Kevin, and I started dating when I was 22 years old, and he pretty much showed me the ropes of “weight-lifting,” as we called it back in 1990. I was a member of a local franchise gym, but would also work out with him in his parent’s basement, along with all of his buddies. I soon came to absolutely love lifting weights and seeing the results that it had on my body. I quickly became toned and looked forward to working out almost every evening after work. The guys were training for a body-building show, and I had fun watching them get ripped and muscular. We were all pretty proud of what we had accomplished. After a few years, Kevin and I decided to open a small private gym of our own, and train our friends and family. It was a great time of life! Soon after, Kevin and I got married, and had our daughter Haley. Once Haley was born, my life was consumed with her, and I put my passion for fitness on the back burner for many years. While still keeping up with health and wellness latest research and education, I decided that one day I would return to my passion, and start my own business in personal training. That day came in 2014 when I opened my studio in Amsterdam, NY. I can’t believe how long it has been since I began my fitness journey in the basement of my in-laws house, and now I am living my dream of training others and helping them along their fitness journey. It has been a wonderful experience so far, and I wake up every day excited to learn more so that I can help others.
