Karen's Journey

I recently received a testimonial from a very sweet and STRONG client, that I thought I’d share with you, because it means so much to me to know that what I do is really making a difference in people’s lives. Here is Karen’s success story:

“I needed a program that gave me both strength training and weight resistance training. A “big-box” gym was not for me, so I decided to try a personal trainer. That’s when I contacted Lory. During our first meeting, she asked me what my goals were and what I hoped to accomplish. She then customized a program just for me. I had no idea what to expect, but after two twelve week, one hour sessions per week, I can honestly say that I have gone far beyond my goals and have accomplished much more than I thought I ever could (who’d of thought I would be doing bicep curls!) Along with her knowledge and professionalism, Lory made each session a pleasure. She has a very calm and easy way about her and encouraged me every step of the way. I highly recommend Lory to anyone who is serious about improving their physical health.”

Thank you Karen… this means more to me than you’ll ever know.

Welcome to my blog...

I thought for my first blog, I would give you a little background about myself…so here it goes:

I am a 50-year old (who feels like 30) wife and mother of two beautiful children, Haley and Jake. Both of them are very interested in health and fitness, and are very smart when it comes to making healthy lifestyle choices (I hope that was learned from me :-) My husband, Kevin, and I started dating when I was 22 years old, and he pretty much showed me the ropes of “weight-lifting,” as we called it back in 1990. I was a member of a local franchise gym, but would also work out with him in his parent’s basement, along with all of his buddies. I soon came to absolutely love lifting weights and seeing the results that it had on my body. I quickly became toned and looked forward to working out almost every evening after work. The guys were training for a body-building show, and I had fun watching them get ripped and muscular. We were all pretty proud of what we had accomplished. After a few years, Kevin and I decided to open a small private gym of our own, and train our friends and family. It was a great time of life! Soon after, Kevin and I got married, and had our daughter Haley. Once Haley was born, my life was consumed with her, and I put my passion for fitness on the back burner for many years. While still keeping up with health and wellness latest research and education, I decided that one day I would return to my passion, and start my own business in personal training. That day came in 2014 when I opened my studio in Amsterdam, NY. I can’t believe how long it has been since I began my fitness journey in the basement of my in-laws house, and now I am living my dream of training others and helping them along their fitness journey. It has been a wonderful experience so far, and I wake up every day excited to learn more so that I can help others.
